Jakobovits, Immanuel
(1921-99)
   British rabbi. He was born in Konigsberg. He served as a minister in several London synagogues and became chief rabbi of Dublin in 1949. From 1958 he was a rabbi at the Fifth Avenue Synagogue in New York; in 1966 he was appointed chief rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the British Commonwealth. He was subsequently knighted and created a peer. His publications include Jewish Medical Ethics.
